Symposium to present nonwoven application areas
January 20, 2015 - India
Innovative, high-performance application areas of nonwoven will be presented to the delegates at the ‘Nonwoven Symposium’, to be organised by the Indian Technical Textiles Association (ITTA) at The Leela, Sahar Road, Mumbai, on 30 January 2015.
Several experts from the nonwoven industry, including from EDANA, Welspun, DuPont, CHT, Lakeland, BWF Tech, Desmet Business Group, BTRA, KE Tech, and Park Nonwoven, will be making presentation on the topics of interest to the Industry.
A handbook on 'Nonwovens' will be released by Sujit Gulati, joint secretary, ministry of textiles, during the inaugural session of the symposium.
Technical textiles is one of the fastest growing segment of the Indian economy, and is projected to grow at 20 per cent per annum to US$ 36 billion by 2016-17.
However, the potential of nonwovens, which is undoubtedly a ‘wonder fabric’, remains largely untapped in India. It is expected that the delegates will be able to develop ‘knowledge base’ to initiate the process of development which would eventually lead to emergence of hi-tech nonwoven production capabilities in India.
Nonwoven can be engineered to offer cost effective solutions for the manifold technical challenges existing in human, social and industrial activities of the Indian economy. The functionalisation of nonwovens opens up the possibilities of application areas to mindboggling levels.
ITTA is the only association of the technical textile industry in India, and its membership represents the entire technical textile value chain from raw material to finished goods’ producers, machinery manufacturers, consultants, centres of excellence and R&D institutes.
