Dow E&T develops products for underground infrastructure
February 06, 2015 - United States Of America
Dow Electrical & Telecommunications (Dow E&T), leading global provider of products for telecommunications industry, has developed ENGAGE polyolefin elastomers and NORDEL EPDM, a type of synthetic rubber, as a part of its portfolio of underground electrical infrastructure.
With these innovative products, Dow E&T is now supplying materials for ethylene alkene copolymer (EAM) filled cables and ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) cable constructions. These elastomers are also being used in a range of accessories that include separable connectors, splices, and terminations, according to a press release.
Damien Polansky, global associate marketing director, Dow E&T said, “The addition of elastomeric resins to our portfolio helps Dow E&T to be directly involved in nearly all phases of underground electrical infrastructure – cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), water-tree retardant XLPE (TR-XLPE), EAM and EPR cables and elastomer-based cable accessories.”
ENGAGE polyolefin elastomers for EAM insulated cables exhibit improved flexibility, thermal, wet and dry electrical stability, and recyclability.
NORDEL EPDM for EPR cable constructions and accessories demonstrate flexibility for ease of installation and constrained space applications and are cost-effective, well-designed accessories.
Dow Electrical & Telecommunications provides a broad portfolio of high-quality insulation, semi-conductive shields, jacketing and specialty application materials that are setting new quality and performance standards in the industry, including new standards for safety, sustainability, and reliability.
