SCA & WSSCC conduct hygiene awareness seminar in China

Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA), one of the leading global hygiene and forest products companies based in Sweden, and Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC), conducted a seminar titled ‘Hygiene Matters’ in Sanya, China aiming to raise awareness among decision makers, experts and the general public of the connection between hygiene, health, and wellbeing.

As a joint activity in SCA’s partnership with WSSCC, the United Nations body that works towards sanitation and hygiene, conducted the seminar in SCA’s pavilion in Sanya. The seminar was attended by nursing home executives from seven Chinese cities.

Kersti Strandqvist, senior vice president, group function sustainability, Ulf Söderström, president, SCA Asia Pacific, and Cynthia Yu, marketing associate director, Vinda International, presented the global and local survey on hygiene results at the seminar. WSSCC’s Archana Patkar, programme manager for networking and knowledge management, one of the key speakers at the event, discussed the links between hygiene, aging, and disability.

Kersti Strandqvist said, “The seminar is SCA’s fourth global consumer survey, and its results offer an indication of consumer’s attitudes and behaviours related to hygiene and health-related matters around the world. SCA contributes to improve hygiene standards around the world by supporting a large number of initiatives that can include anything from conducting training programs to breaking taboos.”

Ulf Söderström said, “In China, SCA and Vinda aim to strengthen the possibility of improved hygiene for people everywhere by providing innovative solutions to the market that improves the quality of life for millions of people; from developing professional nursing services to championing elderly education and providing assisted living expertise.” (GK)
