N12 Technologies, Inc., a Cambridge -based start-up which is commercialising revolutionary nanotechnology to enhance composite materials, has been selected 2015 TiE50 Top Start-up.
The recognition was announced this month by the TiE50 organisation. Selection for the recognition is keenly contested by thousands of technology start-ups worldwide and represents the best of the breed start-ups screened from more than 2,700 companies.
Based on MIT-developed and exclusively licensed vertically aligned carbon nanotube (VACNT) technology, N12 has created the world’s first commercial-scale continuous manufacturing capability for its Nanostitch product. Nanostitch improves shear properties of carbon-fibre and other composite materials by 10-40 per cent and lengthens fatigue life 100 fold, according to a press release.
Brad Berkson, the CEO of N12 Technologies, Inc. said, “We are honoured to be selected TiE50 Top Start-up and are very excited to participate at TiEcon 2015. Our material is currently being tested and qualified by the global leaders in aerospace, automotive, wind, and sporting goods industries and will provide remarkable improvements in performance, weight reduction, and energy efficiency. We’re thrilled at the positive response and enthusiasm we’ve received from many of the largest global companies in the US, Europe, and Asia.”
