RKW inaugurates new backsheet film plant in China

RKW Group, a producer of high quality plastic films and nonwovens inaugurated a new greenfield facility which will produce backsheet film for absorbent hygiene products in Guangzhou, China.

According to a RKW press release, the new plant will complement seven other plants across Europe, North America and Egypt, which too manufacture films for the disposable hygiene market.

The Inauguration event was attended by a host of guests, both international and local, and the ceremony featured several Chinese traditions.

CEO Harald Biederbick said, “Today, we have arrived in China and are starting to fill an important white spot on our footprint.”

“This project is a major step in global expansion of RKW Group and a significant milestone towards being a global raw material supplier to the personal care market,” Manfred Bracher, executive board member said.

The RKW Group posted 2014 revenues of €940 million and employs around 3,000 employees who annually process over 420,000 tons of plastic materials in 23 locations around the world.

RKW offers product and solutions in films and nonwovens for the hygiene, medical and converting industry and also for industrial and consumer packaging. (AR)
