June 05, 2015 - Czech Republic

The 2015 edition of the international nonwovens symposium held on June 3 and 4 in Prague was judged “a great success”, according to spontaneous feedback from delegates from across the global nonwovens and related industries, the organiser EDANA said in a statement .

EDANA serves more than 240 companies across 32 countries in the nonwovens and related industries, helping its members to design their future.

Participants from Microban (UK), new to EDANA events, said “This is a fantastic event. We have learned so much. The networking was great”.

“Interacting with folk across the industry in such an effective way is a unique opportunity, I’ve made a lot of business contacts in just two days” added Thomas Broch, Fibertex Personal Care.

Johan Berlin of Investkonsult confirmed: “I am so pleasantly surprised by the crowd and by a number of new and very interesting topics.” Pernilla Karmalm from SCA added that “The location, the mix of papers and the organisation were just excellent”.

At the opening of the conference, Patricia Featherstone, chair of the EDANA board of governors, said, “The symposium reflects the sentiment and the overall health of the industry. With the 2015 edition attracting more than 210 participants in Prague, where the event was first held in 2000, the event not only brings together representatives from the global nonwovens and related industries, but also allows us to take stock of how our industry has grown.”

EDANA was commended for its innovative approach of opening the conference with a session tackling production and post-consumer waste recycling, which demonstrate the industry’s strong commitment to sustainability in all its dimensions.

The symposium featured a mix of issues and topics on nonwovens in all types of applications, with a particular focus on the manufacturing of nonwovens, and addresses the innovative technologies, products and uses of nonwoven materials or products. (SH)
