ITTA to organise symposium on medical textiles in Mumbai

The Indian Technical Textiles Association (ITTA) is organising a symposium titled ‘Medial Textile - Application & Opportunities’ in Mumbai on July 14, 2015.
The symposium is supported by the Textile Commissioners’ Office and will be held co-hosted with the SITRA - Centre of Excellence for Medical Textiles.
Medical textiles is one of the fastest growing segments among all technical textile categories and market size is expected to grow to Rs 4,283 crores in the current fiscal from Rs 3,322 crore in 2012-13.
“The market can grow further if more awareness is created in the healthcare industry about the features of innovative products, cost efficiency and other benefits,” ITTA said.
“The objective of the symposium is to create awareness on medical textiles applications, their functional requirements, market potential, standards, raw materials used and latest manufacturing techniques,” it added.
Presentations include; Future needs of medical textiles in hospitals; Market overview of medical textile in India; Medical textile standards developed by SITRA and Recent developments in hernia mesh.
Other presentations include; Development of an indigenous gel sealed large diameter vascular graft from PET textiles; SITRA’s research in medical textiles and Functionality in textiles: A perspective on healthcare protection.
Innovative bandages and antimicrobial woven fabrics; Wearable physiological monitoring system; Why single-use medical nonwoven and polyester fibers for medical applications will be other presentations. (AR)
