Lubrizol partakes in the TPE Thermoplastic Elastomer Meet
January 11, 2016 - United States Of America
The Lubrizol Corporation’s Engineered Polymers business, that offers one of the broadest portfolios of engineered polymers, participated at the TPE 2015 Thermoplastic Elastomers World Summit Conference held in Barcelona from December 9 to 10, 2015.
Dr. Romina Marin, research and development leader for the aliphatic and soft thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) platforms, presented a paper titled: Pioneering Aliphatic TPU Solutions for Top Performance, at the summit. Dr. Marin revealed the latest aliphatic polymer developments resulting in improved soft touch and hard TPU grades with improved staining and hydrolysis resistance compared to previous, standard aliphatic TPU, especially designed for electronic, wearables, automotive, sports applications.
The company also displayed Lubrizol’s UV-stable aliphatic TPU products, at the conference, for plastic engineers and designer that is cost-effective in manufacturing, offers flexibility, elastic/rebound and high-resilience properties, excellent weatherability and staining resistance, and gives high heat and chemical resistance, according to a press release.
Dr. Marin said, “Designers in wearables, automotive, electronics and sports markets are becoming more and more demanding about the aesthetics and surface finish they need, and this TPU can keep superior mechanical properties while retaining appealing aesthetics for years to come.”
Lubrizol has a broad Aliphatic TPU (Pearlthane) portfolio for moulded applications currently available that includes bio-based, soft, and hard TPU solutions and also allows a moulded, durable part to last longer under the sun. (GK)
