Microban gets bluesign rating for textile odour treatment
September 29, 2016 - United Kingdom
Microban, a leader in unique antimicrobial solution design and textile odour control, has announced that it has received bluesign system blue product rating for its ScentryBC100 solution, an odour capture treatment for textiles, continuing to achieve highest industry standards in conserving valuable resources and minimising environmental impacts.
Microban’s Scentry BC100 is a non-antimicrobial solution that absorbs body odours in clothing and footwear made from
polyester,
spandex,
nylon, and synthetic blends, caused by organic chemical compounds. Applied to the fabric during the manufacturing process, it forms a protective barrier on the fabric that traps body odours, and regenerating itself by releasing the trapped odours during home launderings. The solution captures more than 90 per cent of odours, even after more than 50 typical home launderings, extending the life of the product.
Lisa Owen, senior business director of global textiles for Microban said, “Ensuring that Microban’s technologies are sustainable is very important to our customers and the end consumer. Obtaining a bluesign blue product rating shows our partners we are dedicated to bringing them quality products upon which they can rely. It is vital to the continued growth of our business that we reinforce our commitment to help clean up the textiles supply chain to meet environmental, health, and safety requirements.”
The bluesign system is the solution for sustainable textile production, eliminating harmful substances from the beginning of the manufacturing process, setting standards for environmentally friendly and safe production. (GK)
