July 17, 2018 - United States Of America
Alexium International Group has named Dr. Robert Brookins as the chief executive officer and managing director of the company, effective July 1, 2018. Alexium holds proprietary patent applications for novel technologies, developed to provide flame retardancy for a range of applications that include textiles, packaging, electronics, and building materials.
In his capacity as executive vice president of research and development, Brookins has been instrumental in the research and development of the company’s innovative technologies. Brookins led the development and commercialisation of Alexium’s phase change material platform technologies and the Alexicool product line, which is the foundation of the company’s recent success in sales to the bedding and top-of-bed markets.
Brookins has, during his 8 years with the company, been involved in multiple facets of the business, including working with customers on product design and marketing, analysing markets to assess opportunities, and planning for logistics and supply-chain management.
In addition, Brookins co-invented Alexium’s flame retardant technologies for military uniforms and formaldehyde-free, flame retardant products for cotton-based materials. He has been immersed in the operations and strategy of the business and has gained significant experience working within the senior leadership team of the company.
He has demonstrated an entrepreneurial drive, a deep knowledge of Alexium’s business and markets, and strong leadership to drive the vision and performance of the company. He is committed to strategic decision making, transformative business, and organisational process, and cost management.
Brookins said, “Over the past 18 months, Alexium has made great strides in the three cornerstone initiatives based on our PCM and FR platform technologies. Building on this momentum and leveraging our strengths in innovation and commercialisation to progress such initiatives will be my focus, because the company’s profitability and success will be driven by these. I look forward to leading the Alexium team to accomplish this.”
As part of the new organisational structure, Richard Estes has been promoted to vice president, research and development. Estes has a Bachelor of Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and has over 25 years of experience in materials science across a range of industries, including coatings and textiles.
