Carrington Textiles shows new protective textiles at A+A
November 20, 2019 - Germany
Carrington Textiles displayed latest developments in workwear, flame retardant, waterproof, and defence fabric ranges at the recently held A+A trade fair. A+A is the largest international trade fair for safety, security, and health at work, held in Dusseldorf, Germany. Carrington Textiles is the largest producer of workwear fabrics, headquartered in the UK.
Boasting more than 200 square metres over two floors, the stand was equipped with 4 meeting rooms, two bars, and plenty of meeting space to make sure customers had the best experience during their visit. The highlight of the show was the Balance Range. This brand new collection of fabrics has been manufactured using techniques that lessen the impact on the environment, the company said in a press release.
The Balance Range is a collection of fabrics that have been manufactured using five sustainable technologies including recycled polyester, REMO cotton, Tencel fibres, and Vortex-spun yarn (MVS), with materials sourced in compliance with the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI). Each of these methods are designed to minimise the environmental impact at different stages – including in the fabric’s production, during usage and at end-of-life.
This greener range includes Delamere 195 and Arden 260, which are both composed of recycled polyester from Repreve – made from plastic bottles otherwise destined for landfill. Denver, Detroit, Tacano and Tomahawk were produced with Vortex-spun cotton yarns, making up 35 per cent of their blend.
Tencel has also been incorporated into two further fabrics, Varese and Coolcel 200 Plus. This material is sourced by transforming wood pulp into cellulosic fibres using a solvent-spinning process which recycles water and reuses the solvent at a recovery rate of over 99 per cent.
Carrington’s workwear range welcomed Kara, a new fabric developed with a 50 per cent cotton and 50 per cent polyester construction that combines the comfort of cotton and the hardwearing properties of polyester, ideal for shirting and blousewear.
Flameban Max 260 was announced as an addition to the manufacturer’s flame retardant (FR) collection. This fabric is a lighter version of the company’s Flameban Max 310 and their first inherently flame resistant fabric with Protal 5, a technology that offers improved mechanical and performance properties.
Also newly included to Carrington’s FR range is Flamestat Satin 300, a heavier version of the successful multifunctional Flamestat Satin 225. This new fabric features a cotton reverse for comfort and polyester face for durability, which makes a product that is comfortable to use without compromising the safety of the wearer.
