Composite-sandwich conference to be held in February
December 17, 2019 - Germany
The Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems (IMWS) and ThermHex Waben are organising the “Composite-Sandwich Conference” in Halle (Saale), Germany during February 5-6. The conference will highlight new fields of application of sandwich materials besides providing a platform to exchange knowledge and opportunity to network.
While the topic of lightweight construction is widely discussed in many congresses and conferences, there are only a few conferences worldwide focusing on sandwich construction and sandwich core materials.
Sandwich construction based on fibre-reinforced plastics enables highly efficient lightweight structures. It already makes an enormous contribution to resource conservation in a large number of applications.
Besides the professional exchange and the opportunity to network, new fields of application of sandwich materials will be discussed at the conference. On the evening before the conference the participants will also be offered a visit to ThermHex production plant and a guided tour at the Fraunhofer Pilot Plant Centre for Polymer Synthesis and Processing.
There will be a plenary talk by Christian Berggreen, TU Denmark, and sessions on topics such as industrial applications, material properties and developments, and technologies and production techniques.
