NCC unveils online training platform to help upskill

April 30, 2021 - United Kingdom

With a view to offer round the clock access to a range of high-quality composites courses, the National Composites Centre (NCC) has unveiled a new online training platform for users from organisations of all sizes. This provides them an opportunity to develop their knowledge by taking self-taught courses that they can access at any time, from any location.

NCC’s new training platform is important in view of the need to reskill and upskill employees in an affordable way now being more important than ever for businesses. Offered alongside a suite of practical and theory based, in-person courses taught by composites experts, the online courses provide users with an introduction to key topic areas to establish a firm base of understanding of composite materials, their applications and uses.

All the NCC’s courses have been developed by technical specialists, with those available online including Introduction to Composite Materials, Introduction to Composite Design, and Introduction to Measurement and Inspection. More online courses will be available later in the year.

Katy Riddington, strategic initiatives director at the NCC, said: “Part of our role as one of the seven High Value Manufacturing Catapult centres is to help the UK’s industries grow and develop, in our case enabling more businesses to make use of the many benefits composites can offer. One way we do that is by helping people at all levels to understand these advanced materials and their applications through training. We know that it is not always possible to attend training courses in person – especially at the moment - so we wanted to make it as easy as possible for businesses of all sizes to keep developing.”

As well as set training courses, the NCC offers bespoke training, with courses tailor-made to suit the customer’s specific needs – whether that’s an in-depth focus on a core topic, customised content or lessons delivered on site with their equipment.
