Texas Tech, Jayalakshmi Textiles receive Intexcon award

The Texas Tech University’s nonwovens laboratory and Jayalakshmi Textiles have received the Intexcon innovation award for their collaborative research in technical textiles. The award was presented to Dr. Seshadri Ramkumar from Texas Tech and Arunkrishna Srinivasan from Jayalakshmi Textiles by Rajeev Saxena, joint secretary of the ministry of textiles, government of India, during a ceremony in Ahmedabad, India.

The collaboration highlighted the value-added applications of cotton, showcasing its advantages in specific technical textiles. Srinivasan, director of Jayalakshmi Textiles, accepted the award on behalf of the company. As part of the ceremony, Ramkumar presented a lecture titled ‘Cotton and Advanced Textiles’ on the event's second day. The award function was attended by approximately 230 guests, INDA said in a press release.

Attendees at the meeting included prominent figures from the textile industry such as RD Udeshi, former president of polyester chains at Reliance Industries; Dr. PR Roy, former group chief executive of textiles at Arvind Mills; Dr. Arindam Basu, director general of NITRA; Pragnesh Shah, director of ATIRA; Thulsi Patel, national president of the Textile Association (India); and Dr. Ashwin Thakkar, chair of the Textile Association (India) Ahmedabad unit.
