The production line will cost approximately €50 million, and will be ready by the second half of 2016. It will supply nonwovens made from a wide range of products – from cellulosic fibres to reinforced composites and synthetic fibres.
It will ensure the integration of Suominen's technological expertise, like latest wetlaid web forming and hydroentanglement technologies, eventually resulting in superior capabilities.
The company's selection of finishing treatments will expand at this production line. A variety of different chemical substances including colour may be employed.
Commenting on the new production line, Saara Soderberg, vice president – marketing and product management at Suominen said, “It is not by chance that Suominen is investing in these carefully selected market segments. They are growing markets, and we know what is needed in these applications.”
This is a key action in the company's growth strategy, for it will help increase the share of products with higher added value in Suominen's portfolio. (MCJ)
