US’ Germ-O-Guard launches new anti-viral & anti-bacterial products

Italian textile machinery makers to exhibit at Techtextil in June

NUS researchers develop composite film reducing heat stress by 40%

A team of researchers from the National University of Singapore (NUS) has developed a novel super-hygroscopic material that enhances sweat evaporation within a personal protective suit, to create a cooling effect for better thermal comfort for users such as healthcare workers and frontline officers. This composite film reduces heat index by 40 per cent.

NSERC gives Canada’s Centennial College $4 mn for e-textiles research

Canada’s Centennial College and its partners have received $4 million in multi-year funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada to develop products for the global e-textile market, as well as to assist small and medium-sized enterprises in the transportation, food production, energy and advanced manufacturing sectors.

Germany’s Saertex enters into partnership with Terre de Lin

MIT researchers develop fabric that converts sounds into signals

Engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and collaborators at Rhode Island School of Design have designed a fabric that works like a microphone, converting sound first into mechanical vibrations, then into electrical signals. Inspired by the human ear, a new acoustic fabric converts audible sounds into electrical signals.

The US Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has published a peer-reviewed study confirming that patented Goldshield antimicrobial continuously kills COVID-19 and its variants 100 per cent on PPE and other materials for days. Goldshield Technologies is a Life Sciences company that developed the Goldshield cleaning system.

AstenJohnson opens a state-of-the-art nonwovens plant in Waco, Texas

AstenJohnson, a textile manufacturer headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, with roots dating back to 1790, has selected Waco, Texas as the location for its eighth North American location. The company will invest over the next two years to build the 220,000 square foot facility. Waco and McLennan County provided incentives supporting the project.
