Swiss firm Sanitized names Michael Luthi as new CEO

Michael Luthi, a member of the founding family, has been named the CEO of the Switzerland-based Sanitized company group, a producer of antimicrobial hygiene function and material protection for textiles. He will take over the position from Urs Stalder, who will join the administrative board after working for the company for over 30 years.

96.59 km of road constructed using coir geo-textiles in India

Close to 96.59 km of road in Indian states of Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu has been constructed using coir geo-textiles as on July 28. The material is used for improvement of sub-grade soil strength in road pavements and stabilisation of side slopes. About 311.29 km of road construction using this material has also been sanctioned.

French firm Arkema & NTU Singapore develop safe bicycle helmet

A team of researchers from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University’s (NTU) School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering has collaborated with French specialty materials leader Arkema to develop a safer bicycle helmet using a combination of materials. Its outer shell is made from a new thermoplastic resin developed by Arkema named Elium.
