Whale tail that saved Dutch metro fall has composites

The whale tail sculpture that saved a runaway Dutch metro from falling into the bike path 12 metres below in the Netherlands, has the “tail” part, on which the metro train actually rested, made up of only composite material with no steel support, implying the load was taken by the composite material. The sculpture has been engineered by Solico.
