Norco is composite supplier for MST for MOD contract

Merseyside-based Marine Specialised Technology (MST) has chosen Norco as its main composite supplier for a £9.9 million contract with the UK Ministry of Defence. The contract is to construct two new vessels to replace the interim Gibraltar Squadron Fast Patrol Crafts. Construction of the two boats began in July and will be complete in about 18 months.

McLaren works with Bcomp to make natural fibre seat

McLaren has collaborated with Swiss sustainable lightweighting specialist Bcomp to develop F1's first natural fibre composite racing seat for Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris. This is the first F1 car part to be made of renewable textile fibres. The seat has been created by optimising the mechanical properties of flax fibres through fabric architecture.

Composites sector in Germany has been greatly impacted by coronavirus pandemic, according to the 15th Composites Market Survey carried out by Composites Germany. Companies have given unfavourable assessments of the general business situation, and are pessimistic about their own situations. Ratings were lowest since the surveys were started in 2013.
