The global trade of nonwovens (whether or not impregnated, coated, covered or laminated) of manmade filaments has shown a slight decline in 2019. Total trade decreased 1.09 per cent from $22,045.04 million in 2017 to $21,804.56 million in 2019, according to data from TexPro. The total trade fell 8.21 per cent in 2019 over the previous year.

IFabric has issued details of its testing results about the efficacy of Protx2 treated fabrics for inactivating an additional Human Coronavirus, type 229E. The company has informed that testing, done by an internationally recognised, independent laboratory in the US, established its efficacy in inactivating the virus both at 10 minutes and one hour.

DH Sutherland and Toray Composite Materials America (TCMA), composite materials division of Toray Industries, have signed a global distribution deal to support Boeing aftermarket aircraft, including materials qualified to Boeing's BMS8-276. The aim is to rapidly supply less than MOQ quantities of TCMA materials to commercial airlines and MRO customers.

Indian textile brand Siyaram's yesterday launched its anti-corona range of fabric tested by laboratories approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to fight the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Cipher Skin, a data technology startup, earned a $1.5 million contract by the US Department of Defence, as part of the second phase of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) programme.
