Turkey's BUTEKOM hosts seminar on automotive textiles

The Bursa Textile and Apparel Research and Development Center (BUTEKOM) recently held a training seminar on automotive textiles and clothing issues at the Uludag Textile Exporters Association (UTIB) hall in the Turkish city of Bursa.
 
According to a statement issued by BUTEKOM, the seminar was held in order to provide training in technical textiles sector to entrepreneurs, especially in automotive textiles, including the structures of fabrics used in automobiles as well to understand the development of automotive textiles in Turkey over the years.
 
Levent Onal, professor at the Erciyes University in Turkey, conducted the training wherein he shared information regarding technical textiles used in automobiles, especially the concepts of vehicle upholstery, seat and the concept of comfortable, fibre-reinforced composites used in vehicles.
 
Mehmet Karahan, professor at the Uludag University, explained the participating technical textile firms about the definition of technical textiles, the classification of automotive textiles, especially the general market situation for automotive textiles sector, as well the functionality of fabrics and clothing in technical textiles with focus on smart and protective clothing.
 
While explaining the properties and characteristics of protective clothing, Mr. Karahan explained that protective clothing contains properties which vary according to the industry’s needs and expectations, with the utmost importance given to the protection of the wearer against external effects.
 
The seminar was held by BUTEKOM to impart knowledge and provide training regarding the technical textiles sector to Turkish entrepreneurs in order to give them an idea about the market situation of the sector, and encourage them to increase innovation through research and development in technical textiles.
