Technical Absorbents (TAL), global supplier of Super Absorbent Fibre (SAF), is set to exhibit its SAF technology at FILTECH, the largest and most important filtration event world-wide for all those concerned with designing, improving, purchasing, selling or researching filtration and separation equipment and services, to be held from February 24 to 26, 2015, at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany.

TAL is expected to join over 350 global exhibitors to demonstrate how its technology can be used to effectively remove water from aviation fuel, automotive fuel, and hydraulic oil. Tal will be displaying its SAF fibre and converted nonwoven fabric technologies.

Super absorbent Fibre (SAF) is white, odourless and has the appearance and handling characteristics of a textile fibre. As such, it can be used to produce a wide range of non-woven, woven fabrics, yarns and tapes for a wide range of applications.

A significant reason for the majority of oil and fuel system failures is the presence of high water levels in dissolved, dispersed and free water. SAF based filter media fabrics can remove both dispersed and free water to very low ppm levels at industry leading rates. This results in reduced fuel and oil degradation, and provides the required filter quality for efficient machine operation, TAL said in a statement.

Applications development manager for TAL, Dr Mark Paterson said, “SAF is a key component for a wide range of enhanced nonwoven filter media fabrics that are designed for the removal of water and particulates from aviation fuel, automotive diesel and a wide range of oils. Such fabrics help reduce problems associated with water contamination in such situations. Its versatility gives rise to cost savings over traditional cellulosic-based absorption media, while offering full compliance potential to stringent international filtration standards.”

TAL offers world-class levels of innovation, development, manufacture, and supply of SAF and nonwoven fabrics, yarns, and tapes. (GK)
