“The order is one more important step in developing the industrialisation of composite production,” it added.
Voith founded Voith Composites GmbH & Co. KG as a development and production company for carbon fibre products.
In 2011, the first exclusively composites development and production center in the Voith Group was opened at Voith's Garching site and the same year, a development partnership was established with Audi.
“The goal of this partnership is to promote the further development and highly automated production of fibre-reinforced materials for use in future Audi production models,” it informed.
According to Voith, the outcome of the partnership is a highly-efficient and consequently cost-effective production technology.
“The order, which has now been received, will continue the successful work of this partnership in the form of a series-produced product,” the German composites manufacturer observed.
"The order awarded for a CFRP component is the outcome of the good cooperation and trust between Audi and Voith over the last five years," CEO Hubert Lienhard said.
"We have come a long way in the field of the industrialisation of production processes using carbon fibres and the Audi order is an important step in the further development of this future-oriented business," he too added.
Founded in 1867, Voith employs more than 39,000 people, generates €5.3 billion in sales, operates in about 50 countries around the world and is one of the largest family-owned companies in Europe. (AR)
