CFT, USQ, Allnex working on pultrusion

Wagners Composite Fibre Technologies (CFT) is working with the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) and Allnex in a $10 million project to improve the productivity of 'pultrusion', the next big thing in manufacturing. The project has received a $3 million funding boost from Australian government's Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) programme.

DGIST and SKKU team creates artificial skin sensors

Scientists at DGIST Department of Smart Textile Convergence Research and Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) have jointly developed artificial skin tactile sensors which function like human skin and can detect pressure and vibration at the same time. These can be used to measures textile roughness. Existing sensors can only detect pressure and temperature.

Albany net sales soars 7.3% to $273.9 mn in Q2 of FY 2019

Albany International Corp's net sales increased 7.3 per cent to $273.9 million for Q2 of FY 2019 ending June 30, 2019. This reflected strong growth in Engineered Composites and a modest decline in Machine Clothing compared to a very strong Q2 FY18 in that segment.
