While India has classified 207 products as technical textiles for import and export, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade under the ministry of commerce and industry is ready to expand the list if industrialists give a list of such products according to their importance or export/import potential, textiles secretary Raghvendra Singh said recently.

Kimberly-Clark consumer tissue sales down 3% in Q1 2019

In the consumer tissue segment, Kimberly-Clark, a leader in sustainably-made personal care products, has reported sales of $1.5 billion in Q1 2019, down by 3 per cent compared to Q1 2018. Changes in foreign currency exchange rates reduced sales by 6 per cent while volumes decreased 6 per cent compared to 7 per cent increase in the base period.

INDA, a global association of nonwovens fabrics industry, has published its annual North American (NA) nonwovens supply report. The report finds that in 2018, NA nonwoven capacity increased to 5.17 million tonnes, a net increase of 3.4 per cent over 2017. The increase was due to addition of new lines, machine productivity increases and line closures.
