Georgia Institute, Korea University make biofuel cell

Scientists at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Korea University have produced a glucose-powered biofuel cell that uses electrodes made from cotton fibre. This they hop could someday help power implantable medical devices such as pacemakers and sensors. The new fuel cell also provides twice as much power as conventional biofuel cells.

Toray develops carbon fibre with high tensile strength

Toray Industries, Inc has developed new carbon fibres that realise both higher tensile strength and tensile modulus named Torayca MX series and would expand its lineup going forward. Ashland to sell composites biz to Ineos for $1.1 bn

Ashland Global Holdings Inc has signed an agreement to sell its composites business and the butanediol (BDO) manufacturing facility in Marl, Germany, to Ineos Enterprises in a transaction valued at approximately $1.1 billion. The transaction is expected to close prior to end of June 2019 quarter, based on certain customary regulatory approvals.

Andritz to supply spunlace plant to Sheng Hung, Taiwan
