Owens Corning, a global building and construction materials leader headquartered in the US, has reported net sales increase of 16 per cent to $2.6 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2022. The company’s adjusted EBIT margins climbed to 20 per cent and adjusted EBITDA margins increased to 25 per cent in the second quarter of fiscal 2022.

US’ Berry has revealed that its three sites in North America have achieved the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, which validates materials used in manufacturing are free of harmful substances. These materials include virgin resin, recycled content, and renewable raw materials. Berry is a global manufacturer and marketer of plastic packaging products.

Natural cosmetics company Naturamus has teamed up with the University of Hohenheim to grow suitable lavender varieties in the Swabian Alps in Germany and devise eco-friendly ways to extract essential oil from them. Research is also underway for developing ways to recycle large quantities of residual materials to produce composite fibres and textiles.

Ashland posted sales of $644 million in the third quarter of 2022, up 19 per cent versus the prior-year period. Each of the company’s reportable segments achieved double-digit sales growth. The year-over-year sales growth was driven primarily by disciplined pricing leading to cost recovery in a high-inflation environment and improved product mix.

The COSATU-affiliated SACTWU has now settled its 2022 wage negotiations with a seven per cent hike in the nonwoven textile sector. The agreement is part of a series of other wage settlements that the SACTWU has successfully achieved. The SACTWU had formally raised a dispute regarding wages for the nonwoven textile sector on June 17, 2022.
