University of Strathclyde’s AFRC setting up office in Sheffield

The University of Strathclyde’s Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC), part of the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland, is establishing an office in Sheffield, providing local forging and forming houses with access to support from the research centre near Glasgow Airport in the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland in Renfrewshire.

America’s Mechanix Wear acquires Chicago Protective Apparel

Mechanix Wear, a manufacturer of high-performance work gloves, has announced that it has acquired Chicago Protective Apparel (CPA), a 108-year-old, family-owned manufacturer of personal protective equipment (PPE). Mechanix Wear is a portfolio company of middle-market private equity firm Gryphon Investors. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
