56 German companies and institutions presents themselves with their products and services from 12 to 14 March 2012 at the High-Tex from Germany show in the Moscow Expocentre - a new record for participation in this industrial exhibition. Exhibitors include well-known manufacturers of technical textiles, nonwovens and textile machinery. Eleven renowned research institutes complement the portfolio of companies attended and had also presented talks on current issues in a one-day specialist symposium. "Technical textiles from Germany enjoy an excellent international reputation. With High-Tex from Germany, we are making it easier for this innovative sector to access attractive growth markets like Russia," explains Ernst Burgbacher, Parliamentary Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economics and Technology and Federal German Government Commissioner for Small and Medium Enterprises.
High-Tex from Germany has indeed proved its worth since its premiere in 2000. International customers value the breadth of applications and the innovative potential of technical textiles from Germany. Be it in textile-reinforced bridges, wound dressings with integrated medication release or car bodies made of carbon fibre – industry uses our products almost everywhere and with increasing frequency," says Peter Schwartze, Director of the High-Tex from Germany exhibition and President of the Confederation of the German Textile and Fashion Industry (Gesamtverband textil+mode). This is the fourth time this special event has held and this time the emphasis is on the automotive industry, on infrastructure and on nonwovens for use in medicine.Matchmaking for tailor-made company contacts

The special show took place concurrently with the sixth edition of Techtextil Russia, the only dedicated trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens in Russia. Altogether, 191 exhibitors from 21 countries exhibited their products, technological achievements and concepts. At the same time as High-Tex from Germany is celebrating its success, Techtextil Russia boasted 45 percent growth in exhibitor numbers as compared with the previous event in 2010. "High-Tex from Germany has so far always taken place in tandem with a Techtextil show. At this combined event in Moscow – now the fourth of its kind – we are offering the largest range ever of innovation and new products in the field of technical textiles and nonwovens," says Detlef Braun, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt.
Technical textiles in Russia on course for growth
The textile industry and textile research are finding a promising market in Russia. "German companies are benefiting, for instance, from the modernisation of the Russian economy. Last year alone, German exports to Russia grew by 30 percent," says State Secretary Burgbacher. A study conducted by Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) reports that manufacturers of technical textiles in particular are seeing enormous demand, especially from the automotive and healthcare sectors. "But there are other highly lucrative industrial fields, such as the construction industry and the agricultural sector. All in all, manufacturers of technical textiles can look forward to some substantial orders from Russian customers," confirms Peter Schwartze.
Some 200 participants have already signed up for the specialist symposium, which held on the second day of the trade fair and attended by some of the most influential people in the sector. In all, twelve experts gave talks on the latest developments in fields such as lightweight construction materials and electro-mobility, medicine, protective safety wear and architecture. Russian textile research in these areas has great development potential. So we can look forward to much fascinating discussion on Tuesday," says Dr. Klaus Jansen, Chief Executive of Forschungskuratorium Textil.
