A 1.5 megawatt-Atlantis Resources tidal turbine has been installed at the MeyGen site in the Pentland Firth. The AR1500 turbine has hit full power and is already exporting to the grid. Its three rotor blades have been manufactured by AC Marine & Composites. The Pentland Firth is a strait separating Orkney Islands from Caithness in Scotland's north.

Net income, without non-controlling interests expanded to a record figure of €274.6 million in 2016 at Austria based nonwovens technologies manufacturer Andritz Group as against €267.7 million in the prior year. Sales amounted to €6,039 million, a decrease of 5.3 per cent below the all time high sales record of €6,377.2 in the previous year.

For the three months ended December 31, 2016, sales at Xerium, a supplier of industrial consumable products dipped 2 per cent to $113.2 million as against $115.3 million in the prior year's fourth quarter. Adjusted EBITDA fell 5.1 per cent year on year at $20.4 million, while operating income of $8.8 million, was flat over same quarter of 2015.
