IVL to acquire airbag fabrics supplier UTT

Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited (IVL), through its indirect subsidiary PHP Fibres GmbH (PHP Fibres), has signed a definitive share purchase and transfer agreement with Wilfried Trumpp and Venere Polito, to acquire a 100 per cent stake in UTT Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (UTT), Germany. The transaction is expected to complete by Q1 2019.

Exeter University team uses graphene in smart textiles

An international team of scientists, led by Professor Monica Craciun from the University of Exeter Engineering department, has developed a new technique using graphene to create fully electronic fibres for clothing. Currently, wearable electronics are produced by gluing devices to fabrics, which makes them rigid and susceptible to malfunctioning.

Valmet to supply nonwovens rewinder to Papel Aralar

Valmet has been selected by Spanish company Papel Aralar as supplier for a new nonwovens rewinder to be installed in the existing PM 4 lines at the latter’s plant in Amézqueta, Guipúzcoa, Spain. The new installation includes a Valmet Focus Reelite T15 E rewinder - the last stage of the innovative scalability concept of the Reelite T15 rewinder.
