American tech firm 3M records 7.1% sales rise in July-Sep quarter

3M, a technology company engaged in manufacturing of industrial and safety products, posted a 7.1 per cent sales increase to $8.9 billion in the third quarter (Q3) of FY21, over the same period of last fiscal. With the continued growth momentum, the company has further raised its guidance for 2021, and now expects sales to rise between 9-10 per cent.

UK’s Jokasafe launches highly sustainable vinyl gloves

Jokasafe, European vinyl glove manufacturer, has launched a new glove based on highly sustainable Biovyn PVC. Developed by Inovyn, a PVC producer, Biovyn is a next-generation PVC made using 100 per cent renewable feedstock. Biovyn has contributed to a wide range of industries, including textiles, to significantly reduce their carbon footprint.

Finland’s Ahlstrom-Munksjö is set to offer its high-performance sterilisation nonwoven wraps US under the globally recognised Reliance brand. The sterile barrier systems offer excellent bacterial barrier thanks to cellulosic fibres that create a tortuous path for excellent sterility maintenance of surgical instruments up to the point of use.

Sensors from Dutch team respond to pressure, measure body movement

Wearable, stitchable and sensitive sensors from flexible polymers and carbon fibre bundles have been created by researchers at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. Like human skin, these respond to pressure, can measure body position and movement, and can be used to measure progress in Parkinson's disease, or sense joint movement in athletes.
